How to Download TikTok Videos to Your Phone

Use TikTok's official save options, keep your own videos before posting, and learn why Save video may be missing. KeepReels downloads Instagram only.

KeepReels does not download TikTok videos. This guide explains TikTok's own saving options. The KeepReels downloader accepts supported Instagram links only; you do not need to paste a TikTok link here.

Save a TikTok video on iPhone or Android

Start in the TikTok mobile app:

  1. Open the video you want to keep.
  2. Choose Share beside the video.
  3. Select Save video, if available.
  4. When saving finishes, open your phone's photo library or gallery and play the copy to check its picture, sound, and duration.

TikTok's official download instructions say this option depends on the creator allowing downloads. These steps use TikTok's app, not a browser link converter.

Save your own video before posting

For your next upload, keep a device copy as part of your publishing routine. TikTok documents two controls:

  • On the Post screen, open More options and enable Save to device.
  • While editing a single video, use Save on the side panel to download it before posting.

If you only want an offline copy, look for the editing-screen Save control and confirm the file exists on your phone before leaving the editor. You do not need to publish a video just to try that control. See TikTok's save-before-posting guidance.

Keep your original recording or editing export too. A useful backup is a file you have opened and checked, rather than just a setting you have switched on. Compare the saved copy with your original before relying on it for another project.

Why is there no Save video button?

TikTok says a missing save option means the creator does not allow downloads. A video being viewable does not mean it has a download option. Reopening the Share menu will not change the creator's preference.

For someone else's video, share its link instead, or ask the creator for a copy and permission for your intended use. KeepReels cannot enable that button or bypass the setting.

Manage downloads for your own posts

To review your setting, go to Profile → Menu → Settings and privacy → Privacy → Downloads, then adjust Video downloads if available.

TikTok's download-settings help explains that private accounts and accounts belonging to people under 16 cannot enable downloads for others. You still have download and sharing options for your own content when you disable other people's downloads. Turning the setting off does not remove copies people already saved.

That setting controls what other people can download; it is separate from keeping your own file before publishing. You do not need to make your account public to follow the save-before-posting steps above.

The save finished, but where is the file?

Check your phone's photo library or gallery for the recent video, then open it outside TikTok. If you cannot find it, check available storage and any photo-access permission TikTok requested. Menu names differ between phones; follow the prompts on your device.

Finding the post again inside TikTok is not the same check as opening a downloaded file. Verify the local copy before relying on it as a backup.

Will the saved video be watermark-free or HD?

This guide does not guarantee a watermark-free file or a particular resolution. Inspect the actual saved video. For your own work, keep the original camera file or editor export so you can choose the copy that fits your next project.

KeepReels has no TikTok watermark remover, HD downloader, MP3 converter, photo downloader, or Story downloader.

Saving from another platform?

For your own YouTube uploads, follow the YouTube Studio and Google Takeout guide. For a supported public Instagram post or Reel, use the Instagram video downloader or Reels downloader.
