The short version
Copy the link to a public Instagram video or Reel, open KeepReels in Chrome, and choose Get download link, followed by Download MP4. Once the download finishes, open Chrome → menu → Downloads, or find the file in your phone's Files app.
Your gallery app may not show the file immediately, or may not include the Downloads folder in its current view. Check the completed file in Downloads first.
1. Copy a supported Instagram link
- Open the individual Reel or single-video post in Instagram.
- Open the share menu and choose Copy link. The position and wording can vary with the app version.
- If you are using Instagram in a browser, copy the address of that individual post.
Use a complete HTTPS Instagram /reel/ or /p/ URL. KeepReels supports available public single-video MP4s; it does not download Stories, photo posts, carousels, private content, or an entire profile.
2. Open Chrome and download the MP4
- Open Chrome directly and visit the Instagram video downloader.
- Paste the post link into Instagram video or Reel link. If the Paste button cannot access your clipboard, touch and hold the field and choose Paste.
- Tap Get download link and wait for the result. Available title, duration, and resolution details appear when the source provides them.
- Tap Download MP4. Confirm the download if Chrome asks, and choose a location if prompted.
- Wait for Chrome to finish downloading before opening or sharing the MP4.
If you opened KeepReels inside Instagram or another app, open Chrome separately and paste the link there. Different in-app browsers can treat file transfers and new tabs differently.
3. Find the file in Downloads or Files
Open Chrome's menu and select Downloads. Look for the new MP4 and check that it is complete. If your address bar is at the bottom, you may need to open the toolbar to reach the Downloads action.
You can also open your device's file manager and look in Downloads or the folder selected when saving. Depending on the phone, the app may be called Files, Files by Google, or My Files. Sorting by date can help you find a recent download.
Open the file to check that it plays. You can usually share a completed file from Chrome's download list or your file manager without importing it into a gallery app first.
4. If the video is missing from your gallery
- Confirm that the complete MP4 exists in Chrome's Downloads list or your file manager.
- Open it there and check playback. A failed or partial transfer may not be a usable video yet.
- In your gallery app, check its device folders or albums view for Downloads, if that view is available.
- If the gallery offers a supported import or add action, use it for the completed file. The options depend on your phone and gallery app.
A missing gallery entry does not, by itself, mean that the browser download failed. KeepReels starts a browser file download; it cannot confirm that your particular gallery has imported the file.
If the video only opens in a player
Look for Chrome's download action in the video controls or browser menu. When Chrome offers it, you can also touch and hold the link and choose Download link. Then check Downloads rather than assuming playback has saved the file.
If the transfer was interrupted or the temporary download link expired, return to KeepReels and get a fresh link from the original Instagram URL. See the download troubleshooting guide for unsupported links, capacity limits, and unavailable videos.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an Android downloader app or APK?
No additional downloader app is required for the KeepReels browser flow. Chrome downloads the available MP4 directly, and KeepReels does not ask for an Instagram login.
Can I download several videos or a whole profile?
The current tool handles one supported public video or Reel link at a time. It does not offer batch or profile downloads.
Will the MP4 always be full HD and include sound?
The result depends on the supported source file Instagram makes available. KeepReels does not upscale the video or restore missing sound. Existing captions, logos, and source branding remain unchanged.
What if I am using an iPhone?
Use the iPhone guide. Safari, Files, and Photos have different steps from Chrome and Android gallery apps.
